Launch of the project with all partners

       POLITEHNICA University of Bucharest and the UNESCO Chair “Engineering for Society”, in partnership with the Romanian National Commission for UNESCO, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Forests, the International Civil Aviation Organization, the Romanian Airports Association, and the European Network for Aviation Training and Education, are organizing “UNESCO Days at POLITEHNICA University of Bucharest” from 17-19 October. The event will take place on the university campus, in a mixed format – with physical presence and online participation – and its main theme is the contribution of engineering to the sustainable development of society.
The opening of the event will be attended by Mr Barna TÁNCZOS, Minister of Environment, Water and Forests, Mrs Alexandra Mirela BOCȘE, Presidential Advisor, Mrs Simona Mirela MICULESCU, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Delegate of Romania to UNESCO, Mrs Ana-Maria Cătăuță, Member of Parliament, President of the Joint Permanent Commission of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate for relations with UNESCO, Mr László Borbély, State Counsellor, Department for Sustainable Development of the Romanian Government, Ms Janina Sitaru, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Ionel Florian Lixandru, Secretary of State at the Ministry of National Education, Mr Mihnea COSTOIU, Rector of the University POLITEHNICA Bucharest, prestigious academics from Romania and other European countries, representatives of UNESCO Chairs and of the economic environment as well as students and representatives of non-governmental organisations.
To mark the international cooperation, the Erasmus+ Project “Creative digital teaching and learning for green air transport and logistics” will be launched on this occasion. The project is coordinated by UPB, with partners Airport College International (Finland), Haaga-Helia University (Finland), University of Strasbourg (France), Polytechnic University of Madrid (Spain) and Menzies Aviation Romania.

      The AVIONIC programme continues the initiatives of UPB’s UNESCO Chair “Engineering for Society”, established in 2017, which consistently promotes UNESCO’s mission of sustainable development and multicultural dialogue through education, science, communication and information.
The overall objective of the AVIONIC project consists in Improving the quality and relevance of knowledge and skills of new generations of professionals by designing, improving and implementing interdisciplinary study programs at European level to meet the re-structuring needs of air transport labour market with focus on digitalization, sustainable development and societal responsibility.
